Many other cleansers use harsh surfactants or sudsing agents that actually strip the skin of its environmental protective barrier, exposing it to damage from the elements. You won’t find them in our Exfoliating Cleanser. Instead, we use ingredients that increase the water content of the epidermis so it doesn’t dry or irritate the skin.
KEY INGREDIENTS
Lactic acid
This alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) is an effective exfoliant that also has significant anti-aging benefits, such as increasing production of natural ceramides to prevent moisture loss.
Salicylic acid
This beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) loosens dead cell build-up trapped in pores. It also exfoliates excess dead surface cells, thereby increasing the body’s resistance to irritation and infection.
Adzuki bean powder
This very fine powder gently exfoliates with a scrubbing action. It’s effective at loosening dead skin cells without causing the slightest irritation. In fact, it imparts a refined polish to the skin.

NO HARMFUL INGREDIENTS
No toxic preservatives, harmful ingredients (such as triclosan), sudsing agents, drying anti-microbials (such as alcohol), fragrances, or detergents.
No benzoyl peroxide, which kills new skin cell formation and contributes to accelerated aging of skin.

Exfoliation is recommended for normal, oily, sun damaged, and aging skin. That’s because as we age and get exposed to the elements, our skin becomes drier and duller. Drier because we are producing less natural oils that keep it lubricated, and duller because, as our cell turnover rate slows, more dead skin cells accumulate on the surface, making skin appear blotchy and rough in texture.
We all exfoliate naturally, shedding millions of dead skin cells daily. But cleansing with gentle exfoliation is still necessary to remove the daily accumulation of dirt and oil—especially for oily and sun damaged skin. Exfoliating Cleanser washes away the grime while keeping the topmost layer of the epidermis—the stratum corneum—intact. And, as fresh skin cells replace the old, the top layer of skin gradually becomes smoother, softer and more supple.
